Support for Academic and Industry Career Market

The department is happy to announce, effective 1/28/2025, increased departmental support for students going on the academic and non-academic job markets. The department will now provide up to $450 per grad student on the market to help with job market services, including:

  • One or more years of subscription to the Interfolio Dossier Delivery service.
  • One or more years of student membership in the American Political Science Association (APSA) using the Departmental Sponsored Student Membership.
  • Subscription with LinkedIn Premium.

The job services support is also available to students graduating with a Master's degree only.

Important: This form of payment will be deposited into student accounts via the scholarship automation system.

It is understood that the needs of the job market change with time, and so the department is open to suggested additions to this list, with justification. Please contact the Grad Program Coordinator (GPC) at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Please note:

  • Students must be enrolled in a credit-bearing course to receive this funding. Enrollment in GRD 999 does not qualify.
  • Students are no longer eligible for this funding once they have received a "time to degree" extension for their PhD program.
  • This funding is non-renewable: Each student will receive up to $450 only.
  • To access the funding, students will continue to submit reimbursements*, which will be deposited into University student accounts (via the scholarship automation system) and must be submitted within 30 days of charges
    • *APSA student memberships will be handled differently; however, so please contact the GPC prior to purchasing an APSA membership on your own.
  • One-year subscriptions to Interfolio were previously purchased separately by department staff. Those subscriptions ($59.99) have now been factored into the GOTM funding increase and willl be purchased directly by students.
